What Causes a Slow Metabolism?
Having a slow metabolism will make you tired and fat! There can be a bunch of reasons for a low metabolic rate but it's probably a combination of factors. First let's look at at WHO is in control of your metabolism. The only correct answer is.....YOU! You control what you eat, how much you eat, when you eat, how much water you drink and how much exercise you get. Don't blame it on genetics - that's a line of crap! "But I have a thyroid problem!"....well if your fat, it's very likely your thyroid is struggling. But that doesn't mean your thyroid controls you. YOU are the cause of your own metabolism and you can take control of your own health. Okay, now that we've addressed the real cause of a slow metabolism, let's look at some specific reasons why metabolic rate slows dowm. Here are the major causes of a slow metabolism: 1. Your body is toxic and you need to do a body Cleanse. 2. You're eating foods that slow metabolism. 3. Dehydration - Not drinking enough water. 4. Your meal timing and portions are wrong.
The 3 major types of foods that slow metabolism are: 1. Sugar Sugar is a metabolism killer and a destroyer of health. Whoa! Here I go again with the extreme statements! Oh well.....here goes.....Sugar is like Cocaine! Cocaine makes a drug addict feel really great….for a while…..but when it wears off……CRASH!Then the addict needs more and he craves it so intensely that he’ll do just about anything to get his next fix. The sugar addict feels very happy after eating some candy…… for a while….but when it wears off…… CRASH! Then later he’ll get the overwhelming cravings similar to a drug addict. Yes, sugar is highly addictive and has nasty side effects including obesity. Sugar appears in food and drinks with many different names but the effects are just as bad. High fructose corn syrup is added to all kinds of products like bread and sports drinks. With the food supply loaded with sugar, no wonder we're a nation of fat-asses! 2. Processed food containing man-made unnatural, frankenstein-like food additives and chemicals. The huge food suppliers in America are criminal. Most processed foods are toxic! Food additives and preservatives like MSG (MonoSodium Glutimate) and Hydrogenated Oils are poison! Eating food with “artificial colors” is like drinking paint – puke!!! Artificial sweeteners are about as safe as rat poison. And get this....most "diet" products have these additives. Your body has a very hard time processing these toxins and the side-effects are devastating to your metabolism. 3. Excess Carbs Here's how carbs work inside your body: You eat food containing carbs and the body converts them into sugar that goes into the bloodstream (blood-sugar). The sugar in the blood is then burned as fuel to energize muscles and other body parts. If you eat too many carbs then blood sugar levels rise too high and this creates a loud alarm inside the body. The body responds to this alarm by forcing down blood sugar levels and sending the excess energy into storage. The result is FAT STORAGE and BODY ENERGY CRASH! What really sucks is, a little bit later, the body thinks it needs more energy so you get overpowering cravings for more carbs. Yup! Just like Sugar, Carbs are addictive and this vicious cycle will turn you into a hog. Here’s the point – kick the sugar addiction, limit carbs and EAT REAL FOOD!
